Camp X, also known as 25-1-1, Special Training School - # 103 (STS-103) and Project -J, was established in 1941 by (Sir) William Stephenson of the British Security Co-ordination (BSC) as the first spy training camp in North America. Located on a 275 acre parcel of land on the shores of Lake Ontario and on the border of Oshawa and Whitby, the Camp was responsible for training recruits for the Special Operations Executive (SOE), a branch of the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS).

Recognizing the significance of Camp X and the vital role the Camp played in Canadian history the Camp X Historical Society was established in the hope of raising sufficient capital to establish a permanent museum on the original site to house the Camp X collection and preserve the memory of the Camp for future generations.
